Personal Details

I was born in Christchurch and have lived here most of my life. I am married and have two sons and twin daughters, all adults now.
I continue to be very involved with the  Marist Rugby Club (now Marist Albion) having played and coached at senior level over the years. I now enjoy watching my sons play rugby.
I was a member of the Board of Trustees for Marian College when our daughters attended that school.
I belong to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and spent some years as Chairperson of the Pastoral Council.
I keep active walking daily on the port hills with our two dogs and cycling. I have completed the Coast to Coast several times over the past 20 years. I play golf and enjoy the odd fishing excursion when I have time.

Personal Case Study:

In September 1968, just after I turned 21, my mother wrote to me in Sydney to say she had Muscular Dystrophy and had 3 months to live. Could I come home to Christchurch?

I returned to Christchurch and in 1968 entered the Insurance business.

My mother died in January 1969. We had six children still at school. My Father had a stroke and was incapacitated. He died a few years later.

I knew the value of Life Insurance. It never replaced a Mother or Father, but it removed some of the financial strain.
