SPRING NEWSLETTER

Welcome

Welcome to our Spring Newsletter.  It is great to see the sun out, longer nights and Canterbury beginning the journey back to some semblance of normality after what has been a very difficult few weeks for us all.  Our thoughts and best wishes remain with you all at this time.

Moving on I want to take this opportunity to remind you that we are here to help.  Should you want advice or guidance on Insurance, KiwiSaver, Superannuation or Property Investment please let us know and we will be delighted to assist you.

Our main goal remains to educate our clients.  We pride ourselves on our philosophy of ‘no pressure’ advice which allows our clients to make an informed decision, from a position of knowledge, in their own time.

In this episode we touch on:

  • Earthquake - Insurance Reality Check Ups
  • Health Insurance
  • Cover for Children
  • ACC for Self Employed – Business Owners
  • Property Investment

Earthquake – Insurance Reality Check Ups  (will your cover do what you think it will when you need it?)

Looking at it from an Insurance perspective one issue from the earthquake that has unfortunately become apparent is the lack of understanding from some as to what their Buildings and Contents Insurance does or does not cover.  This coupled with the fact that there is a great variance in the quality of cover available has led to some not being fully compensated for the loss/inconvenience suffered during this difficult time.

This lack of understanding and variance in quality is replicated in the area of life and disability insurance.

One of the core principles that we base our advice and product recommendation on is CERTAINTY AT CLAIM TIME.

At this time we wish to offer all our clients, their families, friends and work colleagues a FREE INSURANCE REALITY CHECK-UP.

Throughout this process we will make you aware of potential ‘fish hooks’ such as:

  • Poor policy wording
  • Non Disclosure
  • Offsets at claim time
  • Non inflation proofed covers
  • How to gain control over your insurance premiums.

If you have Insurance or are thinking about getting some please give us a call on 03 379 6847 or email us at admin@supernz.co.nz and one of our advisers will arrange a time to meet with you.

HEALTH INSURANCE

With the cost of Private Hospital treatment escalating – medical inflation being around three times higher than the rate of inflation in New Zealand - there has been a lot of discussion and debate in the insurance industry as to how best ensure long term affordability and quality of cover in the Health Insurance Market.

There are a number of providers of Health Insurance in New Zealand and with that comes a wide variance in the quality and value for money available.

Are you aware that there is only one provider who offers:

NON-CANCELLABLE COVER - This means the cover is guaranteed for the rest of your life (unlike other companies who retain the right to change your terms and conditions).

FUNDING FOR NON PHARMAC SUBSIDISED DRUGS. - Other companies only fund Pharmac registered drugs which means you may have to fund some of your life saving medication out of your own pocket.

We want to give our clients certainty now, in the future and in particular at claim time.  If you want to find out which provider offers the above benefits or are looking for some common sense, plain English advice on Health Insurance please give us a call on 03 379 6847 or email us at admin@supernz.co.nz and we will arrange for one our consultants to meet with you.

COVER FOR CHILDREN

We do not like to think about it, but children also suffer from serious medical conditions and procedures.  The financial complications can be just as serious as if they happened to you.  You may need to take time off work, alter your house or purchase additional medical care.

A number of companies now offer free of charge or, for a small cost, protection for your children and grandchildren to cover serious medical conditions.

If you have children or grandchildren and wish to review your cover to see if you are eligible for Children’s Cover please give us a call on 03 379 6847 or email us at admin@supernz.co.nz and we will arrange for one of our consultants to meet with you.

ACC FOR SELF EMPLOYED/BUSINESS OWNERS

We have found that many self employed and business owners are confused about what ACC means to their business. A common complaint is that they are “paying too much” whilst not have a full understanding of ACC and its workings and how it can be tailored to their requirements.

At the moment we are undertaking a campaign to educate the self employed and business owners on the intricacies of ACC, how best to make it work for them and, if applicable, show them how to make considerable savings.  Only last week by doing something as simple as changing a classification code for one of our clients we have managed to save them  a lot of money each year.

In addition by also helping this client choose the correct level of cover we made additional annual savings.

If you, a family member, friend or indeed your boss would like to find out how to tailor ACC to suit their requirements please phone us on 03 379 6847 or email us at admin@supernz.co.nz

PROPERTY INVESTMENT

If you are involved in property investment at the moment there is a lot of “doom merchants” citing

  • Stagnant Property Prices
  • Increasing Interest Rates
  • Low Migration
  • Changes to Depreciation Entitlements

as a reason to avoid property investment at this time.

Despite this we still believe, chosen wisely and implemented properly, property investment can be a very smart addition to a diversified retirement planning portfolio.

I passionately believe that you need to sit down and gather the advice from as many skilled and knowledgeable people as you can when contemplating your first or next property Investment purchase.  This will go some way to giving your Investment every chance of success.

We have been working with Mark Uden of Kiwi Mortgage Market for a number of years to help our clients make smart decisions on the how, what and where of property investment.  He has been involved in guiding people through the minefield for over 14 years and has seen it all!

If you are thinking of purchasing an Investment Property or just looking for some information we recommend that you invest some time in speaking with Mark to get a no nonsense appraisal of the do’s or don’ts of property investment and an insight as to where he sees the property investment hotspots.

One of his clients, a Senior Manager at a major bank, commented about Mark “I like him, all the facts with none of the tinsel” This sums up Mark nicely!

If you wish to meet with Mark please give me a call and I will arrange a time for him to speak with you.

I hope that you have enjoyed our Spring Newsletter. If you require any additional information on any of the topics covered please call on 03 379 6847 or email us at admin@supernz.co.nz

Best Regards
